Making Sushi

This Week Officially as a Yr 11, we have moved into the marae to do HGC today our food that we created today was Sushi ,Which was made from scratch from washing the rice to get the bacteria  and starch so you dont get sick and develop food poisoning . i only just recently learnt why we wash rice and I'm not going back to just putting rice on the stove and coking it without washing it before hand , I also learnt that when you are rolling sushi a tip is to tuck it under before you continue rolling 

 METHOD 


Boil 1 cup rice + 1 ½ cups water 

Simmer for 15 minutes once boiled


Sushi Rice 

  • ¼ cup white vinegar 

  • 1 sacket Sugar 

  •  Sprinkle of salt 

Taste to check 


2 Cup of Veges 

  • Carrot strips 

  • Cucumber Strips 


Put veges and rice in chiller to cool


Once rice is cooked put on to sushi nori (seaweed) along with other fillings 


Use sushi mat to roll and wet edges to close up the sushi roll


Cut using a clean sharp knife 



Tips for rolling 

  • Keep it tight 

  • Tuck the piece under so that it doesn't come undone
