Ponyboy Curtisis in my opinion he has gone through so much in his life and he is only been around for 14 years they talk about it in chapter 3 and introduce that ponyboy and sodapop parents have passed away

Parents Background
In chapter 3 they introduce that ponyboy and sodapops parents died in a car crash and they passed away during the car crash not long after ponyboy joined the gang because his brothers Darry and also sodapop were in the gang . There Parents names were Darrell Curtis being his father and his mother being Curtis

Ponyboy was attacked by the greasers in the very beginning of the book on his way home from the theaters alone when he asked one of the gang members to come with him but none of them wanted to and he got jumped on the street by 3 greasers during one of them sat on his chest so he couldn't breathe properly but eventually after a lot of beating some of the gang came after the socs had left and found him in the gutter
